First check if the VCR works with the same cables when you connect it to your tv. If it works then the following tips might be of assistance:

• Check the cables, it is possible that a plug is not connected properly.
• The SCART plug in the VCR needs to be plugged in the Output Channel. Also check if the plug has a switch called input/output (or in/out). This has to be set on Output.
• Check if the Video Grabber is installed correctly. At Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager can this be found.
  Here there should be devices called USB 2861 Video and USB EMP Audio Device.

In the Showbizz DVD 2 software should a number of settings been correctly set:

• Make sure that the video system is set to PAL_B. This can be done through Settings in the menu video.
• At the tab Input you need to choose the correct video input. If you are using an S-video cable then you need to set this in the software.

Installing the EM3705 software manually can be done as follows:

1. Make sure that the EM3705 is not connected.
2. Place the disk in the CD-ROM player and close the wizard.
3. Click on "this computer" with the left mouse button twice.
4. Click with the right mouse button on your CD-ROM player and click left on "explore".
5. Double click with the left mouse button on the folder with the name "software".
6. Double click with the left mouse button on the folder with the name "Driver".
7. Double click with the left mouse button on the folder with the name "Setup.exe".

Follow the instructions on the screen, when you are done installing you can proceed with the following steps.

1. Go to the previous folder (the folder with the name software).
2. Double click with the left mouse button on the folder with the name "AP1".
3. Double click with the left mouse button on the file with the name "Setup.exe".
4. Follow the instructions on your screen, when asked for a registration key; this is on the cover of the installation disk.

After step 11 is completed you can proceed with the installation of the next (and last) program.

1. Go to the previous folder (the folder with the name software).
2. Double click with the left mouse button on the folder with the name "AP2".
3. Double click with the left mouse button on the file with the name "Setup.exe".
4. Follow the instructions on your screen, when asked for a registration key; this is on the cover of the installation disk.

The EM3705 Videograbber is now ready for use.

You can only select AVI with a resolution of 640x240. When a higher resolution is selected you can only use MPEG1 and MPEG2.

The installation of Showbiz DVD 2 is not ok.

• Remove the software first through the software list.
• If this does not have any effect then remove the software manually through the folder C:Program FilesArc SoftShowiz DVD 2. The complete folder can be removed.
• Reboot the computer and follow the installation instructions in the manual again.

Probably you have installed an other video capture program (like Pinnacle Studio) on your pc. Both programs use the same codecs so that the program intervene each other.

The solution for this is installing only Showbizz DVD2 or the other program.

If Showbizz DVD2 is already installed, the codecs are already corrupt. There is no other option then to re-install Windows and then install the program you want to use.

1. Right click on 'This Computer' on your desktop.
2. Click on 'Properties'.
3. Go to the tab 'Hardware'.
4. Click on 'Device Manager'.
5. Open the category 'Sound, Video and Game controllers'.
6. You should see a device called 'USB EMP Audio Device'.

A setting within the Arcsoft Showbiz 2 software is set to NTSC (America) in stead of PAL B (Europe).

If you open the window Record, you see two tabs below the screen, 'Video' and 'Audio'.

1. Go to the tab 'Video'
2. Click on 'Settings'
3. Change the Video setting from 'NTCS' to 'PAL_B'
4. Click on Apply
5. Click on OK
